HOMEWORLD 3 STORY FULL
The 4X strategy game Stellaris and its many DLCs, published by Paradox Interactive, took the intricate civilization management gameplay of the Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis games and transplanted it into a fictional galaxy full of feuding star empires. The sandbox mode of Children of a Dead Earth also lets players create their own space-war scenarios and design their own spaceships, creating ideal vessels for conflict in space by finding the right ratio of weapons, armor, fuel tanks, rocket engines, life support, and mass. The story missions in Children of a Dead Earth revolve around a dark Expanse-style narrative where space nations fight over resources and ideologies, slowly teaching players the principles of orbital maneuvering, managing a spaceship's waste heat, and dismantling enemy spaceships by targeting radiators and other vulnerable components.

The real-time tactics game Children of a Dead Earth, in contrast, tries to predict what actual outer-space combat would look like using realistic rocket science simulations of orbital mechanics, nuclear propulsion systems, and weapons such as missiles, lasers and railguns. The space combat gameplay of the Homeworld games is very much inspired by the stylized space battles seen in the Star Wars and Star Trek franchises, featuring space battleships and star-fighters that move through space like sea vessels or jet planes.
